Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Financial Services & Real Estate and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which rose 4.25% or 0.157 points to trade at 3.850 at the close. Bankia SA (MC:BKIA) added 2.64% or 0.087 points to end at 3.381 and BBVA (MC:BBVA) was up 2.02% or 0.121 points to 6.114 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Distribuidora Intl de Aliment (MC:DIDA), which lost 2.31% or 0.065 points to trade at 2.743 in late trade. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) declined 2.31% or 0.680 points to end at 28.770 and Inmobiliaria Colonial SA (MC:COL) shed 1.31% or 0.125 points to 9.400.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 103 to 87 and 16 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.05% or 0.70 to $1302.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.73% or 1.12 to hit $65.85 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.20% or 1.66 to trade at $77.02 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.38% to 1.1819, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8801.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 93.35.
