Silver Mines Ltd (ASX:SVL) has tapped Joel Ray as general manager of its wholly-owned Bowdens Silver Project, bolstering the company’s mineral processing expertise as SVL advances mine development plans.

Ray holds 30 years’ experience in the mineral industry, with expertise in metalliferous mine and minerals processing and a successful track record in precious and base metal mines in Australia and beyond.

He last held a position as general manager of Ravenswood Gold Operations in Queensland under Resolute Mining Limited, where his duties included managing underground and open cut mining operations along with minerals processing facilities.

Instrumental role in development

“On behalf of the company, I would very much like to welcome Mr Ray to the position of general manager of Bowdens Silver,” Silver Mines managing director Anthony McClure said.

“We are delighted to have attracted someone with Joel’s experience, capability and energy.

“Joel will be a highly valuable addition to our team as we continue our mine development plans. Joel will have an instrumental role in this process and in building a significant mid-tier Australian mining company.”

Ray holds a Bachelor of Science (Mining Engineering) from the University of Alabama as a dual citizen of both the US and Australia, and has worked with well-known miners like LionOre Australia, Barrick Australia, Homestake Australia, Rand Mines and Gold Fields of South Africa.
