SEOUL, July 13 (Reuters) - Korea Midland Power Co Ltd (KOMIPO) bought 125,000 tonnes of Australian bituminous coal via a tender for loading between Aug. 20 and Sept. 14, a source from the utility said on Monday.
The utility purchased the coal from Centennial Coal Company Ltd CEYX.UL at around $54 per tonne on a free-on-board-trimmed basis, and the calorific value of the product is 6,080kcal/kg guaranteed, the source said.
The utility initially sought to purchase a total of 250,000 tonnes of bituminous coal via two spot tenders but passed on one due to scheduling problems, he added.
