Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Consumer Goods, Basic Materials and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 1.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT), which rose 1.78% or 0.0930 points to trade at 5.3200 at the close. Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS) added 0.70% or 0.100 points to end at 14.400 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 0.52% or 0.0050 points to 0.9700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which lost 3.40% or 0.0090 points to trade at 0.2560 in late trade. Corticeira Amorim (LS:CORA) declined 3.17% or 0.360 points to end at 10.980 and Montepio (LS:MPIO) shed 2.63% or 0.011 points to 0.408.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 25 to 13 and 2 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for July delivery was up 1.18% or 0.61 to $52.26 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.97% or 0.47 to hit $49.13 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 1.64% or 20.29 to trade at $1256.69 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.54% to 1.1143, while EUR/GBP rose 0.31% to 0.8606.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.58% at 97.53.
