Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were PIK (MCX:PIKK), which rose 2.64% or 7.50 points to trade at 292.00 at the close. Severstal - ao (MCX:CHMF) added 2.12% or 15.80 points to end at 762.00 and Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN) was up 2.04% or 8.00 points to 400.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS), which lost 10.26% or 1.395 points to trade at 12.200 in late trade. Megion (MCX:MFGS) declined 5.56% or 30.0 points to end at 510.0 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) shed 3.22% or 5.05 points to 151.95.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 130 to 78 and 22 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.21% to 23.890.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.32% or 4.00 to $1251.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.49% or 0.25 to hit $51.22 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.42% or 0.23 to trade at $53.92 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.25% to 56.5126, while EUR/RUB rose 0.05% to 63.174.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 97.33.
