Investing.com – Portugal stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 5.80% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Semapa (LISBON:SEM), which fell 3.39% or 0.4425 points to trade at 12.6125 at the close. Meanwhile, REN (LISBON:RENE) fell 3.44% or 0.0935 points to end at 2.6275 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LISBON:CTT) was down 3.87% or 0.3580 points to 8.8810 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF), which fell 10.34% or 0.0006 points to trade at 0.0052 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) declined 8.94% or 0.0235 points to end at 0.2395 and Galp Energia Nom (LISBON:GALP) was down 7.86% or 0.7355 points to 8.6205.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 63 to 3 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Banif SA (LISBON:BANIF) fell to all time lows; falling 10.34% or 0.0006 to 0.0052. Shares in Pharol SGPS SA (LISBON:PHRA) fell to all time lows; losing 8.94% or 0.0235 to 0.2395.
Brent oil for October delivery was down 3.88% or 1.76 to $43.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.51% or 1.42 to hit $39.03 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.33% or 3.80 to trade at $1155.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 1.53% to 1.1559, while EUR/GBP rose 1.17% to 0.7341.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.27% at 93.63.
