Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrials, Utilities and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 lost 6.99% to hit a new 5-year low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 2.11% or 0.0020 points to trade at 0.0970 at the close. Montepio (LS:MPIO) fell 0.39% or 0.002 points to end at 0.509 and EDP Renovaveis (LS:EDPR) was down 2.52% or 0.1710 points to 6.6070 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 12.20% or 0.0025 points to trade at 0.0180 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 10.77% or 0.8370 points to end at 6.9370 and EDP (LS:EDP) shed 10.68% or 0.3150 points to 2.6350.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 43 to 5 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for August delivery was down 4.79% or 2.44 to $48.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 4.81% or 2.41 to hit $47.70 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 4.53% or 57.25 to trade at $1320.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 2.16% to 1.1137, while EUR/GBP rose 6.37% to 0.8138.
The US Dollar Index was up 2.24% at 95.42.
