Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 2.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were REN (LS:RENE), which rose 0.52% or 0.0150 points to trade at 2.8820 at the close. Montepio (LS:MPIO) added 0.17% or 0.001 points to end at 0.581 and Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC) was up 0.17% or 0.0010 points to 0.6060 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 7.51% or 0.0029 points to trade at 0.0357 in late trade. Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP) declined 3.16% or 0.3600 points to end at 11.0500 and Portucel (LS:PTI) shed 2.79% or 0.0920 points to 3.2000.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 33 to 11 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was up 0.12% or 0.05 to $40.10 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.23% or 0.09 to hit $38.23 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.42% or 5.10 to trade at $1233.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.1385, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.7911.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.26% at 94.54.
