Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 fell 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 4.32% or 0.0080 points to trade at 0.1930 at the close. Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS) added 1.76% or 0.0540 points to end at 3.1290 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 0.51% or 0.0750 points to 14.8700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which lost 3.43% or 0.0434 points to trade at 1.2220 in late trade. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 1.42% or 0.0380 points to end at 2.6470 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) shed 0.86% or 0.0150 points to 1.7200.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 25 to 20 and 10 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for January delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $46.94 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.15% or 0.07 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.23% or 2.85 to trade at $1227.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.23% to 1.0699, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.8600.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.12% at 100.32.
