Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Utilities and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 rose 1.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP), which rose 11.18% or 0.0038 points to trade at 0.0378 at the close. Semapa (LS:SEM) added 3.04% or 0.3400 points to end at 11.5400 and CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) was up 1.59% or 0.1260 points to 8.0560 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mota Engil (LS:MOTA), which lost 4.27% or 0.0850 points to trade at 1.9060 in late trade. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) declined 1.43% or 0.0020 points to end at 0.1380 and Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) shed 0.45% or 0.0050 points to 1.0950.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 29 to 19 and 7 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery was up 3.29% or 1.45 to $45.48 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 3.13% or 1.33 to hit $43.80 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.09% or 1.10 to trade at $1255.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.26% to 1.1330, while EUR/GBP fell 0.18% to 0.7876.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 94.25.
