Investing.com – Poland equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Construction and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 declined 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Gornictwo Naftowe i Gazownictwo SA (WA:PGN), which rose 4.73% or 0.23 points to trade at 5.09 at the close. Synthos SA (WA:SNS) added 2.82% or 0.11 points to end at 4.01 and Grupa Azoty SA (WA:ATTP) was up 2.25% or 1.84 points to 83.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which lost 2.81% or 7.50 points to trade at 259.30 in late trade. Tauron Polska Energia SA (WA:TPE) declined 2.73% or 0.08 points to end at 2.85 and mBank (WA:MBK) shed 2.37% or 7.60 points to 313.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 287 to 245 and 161 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.87% or 1.28 to $43.38 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 3.68% or 1.67 to hit $43.70 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 2.25% or 29.15 to trade at $1264.85 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was down 0.15% to 4.4276, while USD/PLN fell 0.15% to 3.8822.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.22% at 94.04.
