Investing.com – Poland equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Energy and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Warsaw, the WIG30 rose 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the WIG30 were Kruk SA (WA:KRU), which rose 3.91% or 8.40 points to trade at 223.40 at the close. KGHM Polska Miedz SA (WA:KGH) added 3.61% or 3.85 points to end at 110.63 and Enea SA (WA:ENAE) was up 3.09% or 0.32 points to 10.69 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank Zachodni WBK SA (WA:BZW), which lost 1.04% or 4.20 points to trade at 400.00 in late trade. Asseco Poland SA (WA:ACPP) declined 1.01% or 0.44 points to end at 43.26 and Jastrzebska Spotka Weglowa SA (WA:JSW) shed 0.99% or 1.00 points to 100.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 283 to 193 and 197 ended unchanged on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.20% or 0.12 to $59.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.40% or 0.25 to hit $62.97 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 1.41% or 18.80 to trade at $1349.20 a troy ounce.
EUR/PLN was up 0.06% to 4.1684, while USD/PLN fell 0.22% to 3.3655.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 89.31.
