Investing.com – Greece equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Utilities and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite declined 2.50% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Coca Cola HBC AG (AT:EEEr), which rose 1.94% or 0.4050 points to trade at 21.2350 at the close. Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr) added 1.79% or 0.020 points to end at 1.140 and Thrace Plastic (AT:THRr) was up 1.55% or 0.040 points to 2.620 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which lost 7.91% or 0.014 points to trade at 0.163 in late trade. Selonda Aquaculture SA (AT:SELr) declined 7.41% or 0.0120 points to end at 0.1620 and Marfin Invest (AT:MRFr) shed 6.85% or 0.010 points to 0.136.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 71 to 23 and 22 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.54% or 6.65 to $1242.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.56% or 0.29 to hit $52.46 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.71% or 0.39 to trade at $55.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.25% to 1.0706, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8538.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.30% at 100.09.
