Investing.com – Nigeria equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Food, Beverages & Tobacco, Banking and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 gained 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which rose 7.57% or 0.95 points to trade at 13.50 at the close. Stanbicibtc Hl (LAGOS:IBTC) added 4.77% or 2.05 points to end at 44.80 and Fidelitybk (LAGOS:FIDELIT) was up 1.58% or 0.030 points to 1.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL), which lost 5.46% or 10.00 points to trade at 173.00 in late trade. Guiness Nig (LAGOS:GUINNES) declined 5.06% or 4.00 points to end at 75.00 and Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN) shed 2.73% or 0.30 points to 10.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 53 to 33 and 17 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 2.54% or 1.86 to $71.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 2.74% or 2.28 to hit $80.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 2.69% or 32.10 to trade at $1225.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was up 0.95% to 421.540, while USD/NGN unchanged 0.00% to 363.500.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 94.82.
