Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Relx NV (AS:RELN), which rose 1.38% or 0.205 points to trade at 15.110 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 0.84% or 0.49 points to end at 58.50 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.67% or 0.27 points to 40.27 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.79% or 0.24 points to trade at 4.85 in late trade. Philips Kon (AS:PHG) declined 4.27% or 1.07 points to end at 24.07 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 3.73% or 0.201 points to 5.184.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 110 to 49 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 7.39% to 20.19.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.42% or 0.62 to $43.11 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.73% or 0.33 to hit $44.74 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 0.98% or 12.00 to trade at $1242.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.45% to 1.1273, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.7775.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.44% at 94.69.
