Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.53% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 1.66% or 0.23 points to trade at 13.80 at the close. Randstad (AS:RAND) added 0.83% or 0.38 points to end at 45.75 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 0.72% or 0.31 points to 43.44 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ING Groep NV (AS:ING), which lost 2.20% or 0.225 points to trade at 9.990 in late trade. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 1.56% or 0.91 points to end at 57.29 and Boskalis Westmin (AS:BOSN) shed 1.55% or 0.53 points to 33.33.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 99 to 59 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.17% to 22.73.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 2.62% or 0.99 to $36.76 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 2.48% or 0.99 to hit $38.85 a barrel, while the June Gold contract rose 1.36% or 16.60 to trade at $1240.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1383, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8085.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.04% at 94.45.
