Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Industrials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.45% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP), which rose 0.88% or 1.85 points to trade at 212.95 at the close. Aalberts Industries (AS:AALB) added 0.45% or 0.14 points to end at 32.45 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was up 0.20% or 0.04 points to 20.28 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 2.26% or 0.166 points to trade at 7.189 in late trade. DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) declined 1.50% or 0.90 points to end at 59.00 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) shed 1.17% or 0.710 points to 59.950.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 76 to 52 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.69% to 15.78.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 1.58% or 0.83 to $53.46 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 1.81% or 1.00 to hit $56.32 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 1.28% or 15.25 to trade at $1211.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.82% to 1.0783, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8578.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.75% at 99.67.
