Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.05%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa), which rose 1.39% or 0.345 points to trade at 25.175 at the close. Relx NV (AS:RELN) added 1.27% or 0.225 points to end at 17.905 and Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) was up 0.98% or 0.37 points to 38.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which lost 2.77% or 0.600 points to trade at 21.055 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 2.22% or 0.39 points to end at 17.20 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) shed 1.33% or 1.85 points to 137.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 75 to 56 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.34% to 10.69.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 2.27% or 1.15 to $51.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 2.64% or 1.49 to hit $57.91 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.06% or 13.69 to trade at $1311.19 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.96% to 1.1842, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8808.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.58% at 92.48.
