Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology, Basic Materials and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.39%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 3.13% or 1.00 points to trade at 32.95 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) added 2.49% or 0.596 points to end at 24.556 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was up 1.59% or 2.45 points to 157.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 2.71% or 0.23 points to trade at 8.29 in late trade. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.31% or 1.050 points to end at 79.280 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) shed 1.29% or 0.220 points to 16.895.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 85 to 44 and 6 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.25% to 11.51.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.62% or 0.35 to $56.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.42% or 0.26 to hit $62.48 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.58% or 7.46 to trade at $1282.76 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.08% to 1.1742, while EUR/GBP rose 0.11% to 0.8875.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 93.88.
