Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Materials and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC gained 1.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX), which rose 5.66% or 0.980 points to trade at 18.280 at the close. Kimberly - Clark De Mexico A (MX:KIMBERA) added 4.38% or 1.490 points to end at 35.470 and Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) was up 4.22% or 2.020 points to 49.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banregio Grupo Financiero SAB De CV (MX:GFREGIOO), which lost 2.45% or 2.720 points to trade at 108.120 in late trade. Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) declined 1.54% or 1.260 points to end at 80.560 and Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA) shed 1.41% or 3.560 points to 248.130.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 212 to 93 and 11 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.49% or 5.75 to $1175.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.14% or 1.09 to hit $49.84 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $52.99 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.03% to 20.3395, while EUR/MXN rose 0.07% to 21.8799.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.23% at 100.28.
