Investing.com – Mexico equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Materials, Telecoms Services and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC added 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IPC were Grupo Simec, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:SIMECB), which rose 3.63% or 1.730 points to trade at 49.370 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) added 2.54% or 1.040 points to end at 42.010 and Ohl Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:OHLMEX) was up 2.07% or 0.580 points to 28.690 in late trade.
Biggest losers included La Comercial (MX:LCMRUBC), which lost 1.49% or 0.27 points to trade at 17.87 in late trade. Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB (MX:IENOVA) declined 1.29% or 0.89 points to end at 68.00 and Grupo Carso, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GCARSOA1) shed 0.22% or 0.180 points to 82.840.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 116 to 53 and 8 ended unchanged on the Mexico Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 1.31% or 16.50 to $1244.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.54% or 0.65 to hit $41.52 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.72% or 0.77 to trade at $43.92 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.06% to 17.4692, while EUR/MXN fell 0.96% to 19.7078.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.82% at 94.79.
