Lightning Minerals Ltd has had a strong start to the year for its lithium projects in the Lithium Valley of Minas Gerais, Brazil, confirming the presence of spodumene at the Esperança Project and lithium mineralisation at Caraíbas and Canabrava.
Results from a recent soil sampling program produced the highest tenor lithium hits to-date from the Caraíbas and Canabrava projects, returning up to 429 parts per million (ppm) lithium and 320ppm lithium, respectively.
The confirmation of spodumene at Esperança also validates L1M’s upcoming 2,000-metre drilling program, the contractor for which is being finalised.
First drilling campaign incoming
“Further excellent results across our projects in Brazil provide even greater confidence in the potential prospectivity of both project areas and the region,” Lightning Minerals managing director Alex Biggs said.
“The past six months have been significant for the company in providing strong drill targets and allowing us to both develop an exploration thesis and drill target priorities.
“As we move towards our first drill campaign in Brazil at Esperança we look ahead to another busy and productive year that has the potential to deliver significant results and a step change for the company.
“I have always believed in being aggressive in our exploration strategy and with the results and targets we have generated so far in Brazil believe in the potential this region holds for us.”
Lightning expects to begin a 2,000-metre diamond drilling campaign at Esperança in the first quarter of 2025, once drilling contractors have been selected and logistics finalised.
The company says plans are also underway for drilling at Caraíbas, targeting a 2-kilometre-long lithium soil anomaly with peak results up to 239 ppm lithium.
L1M is also processing results from Phase 1 soil sampling, which is expected to highlight further drilling targets or areas for more extensive geochemical sampling – Lightning intends to drill test the most promising targets in the first pass of drilling.
