Kali Metals Ltd (ASX:KM1) has leveraged results from an initial soil sampling program over the Sweetwater area of the Jingellic Project in southern New South Wales to identify several strong, coherent anomalies prospective for tin, tungsten and lithium.

The soil anomalies are grouped in three distinct trends over strike lengths of up to 3.5 kilometres, remaining open to the northwest and southeast with some samples revealing new areas of prospectivity that will require follow-up.

Following up tin and tungsten anomalies

“Our first soils sampling campaign at the Sweetwater Project area at Jingellic has yielded some very positive mineralised trends,” Kali Metals managing director Paul Adams said.

“In addition to lithium, which remains the company’s key focus, Kali has identified coherent tin-tungsten anomalies that will be a focus for follow-up exploration in the near future by our Eastern States-based exploration team.

“Given that Sweetwater is only our first prospect to have a completed soils campaign, we are very excited by the potential for our whole Southern Lachlan Fold Belt tenure.”

Kali says previous field and desktop studies highlighted the potential for a regional tin-lithium-tungsten province.

The company believes historical tin workings from the early 1900s and recent rock samples of up to 11% tin, 1,060 parts per million tantalum and 1.5% lithium support this potential.

In the next 3-6 months, Kali intends to:

  • Undertake soil sampling in-fill to further constrain the soil anomalies over the identified trends (some 300 samples);
  • Complete rock petrography with the esteemed geologist and tin expert Dr Roger G. Taylor (ongoing);
  • Complete literature review and desktop studies (ongoing);
  • Finalise soil sampling grid expansion into the eastern EL9507 Woomargama State Conservation Area (access now granted);
  • Identify areas for additional LiDAR surveys and contractor engagement; and
  • Prepare for the upcoming detailed geological mapping in October.
