Jeff Bezos has filed to sell 25 million additional shares of Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) worth around $5 billion.
Bezos filed to sell the shares after the close on Tuesday, the day the stock hit a fresh record.
In February, Bezos sold around $8.5 billion worth of shares of the company he founded over nine trading days, representing the first time he disposed of company stock since 2021.
According to calculations by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, the additional sales would bring his total this year to roughly $13.5 billion.
Despite the latest share sale, Bezos would still own almost 912 million shares, or around 8.8% of Amazon.
Amazon's shares closed Tuesday's session at $200 apiece, its highest level since listing in 1997. So far this year, the company's stock has rallied more than 30%, while it has gained more than 51% over the last 12 months as investors anticipate its cloud business benefitting from the growth of generative AI technology.
