Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Construction and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.00%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Mitsui Financial (TYO:8316), which rose 1.93% or 113.00 points to trade at 5,956.00 at the close. Terumo Corp. (TYO:4543) added 1.71% or 79.00 points to end at 4,704.00 and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506) was up 1.55% or 10.10 points to 659.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TYO:8015), which lost 4.22% or 313.00 points to trade at 7,109.00 in late trade. Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (TYO:5706) declined 3.94% or 141.00 points to end at 3,441.00 and DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:5714) shed 3.67% or 168.00 points to 4,411.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2347 to 1287 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 7.08% to 20.74.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.14% or 0.10 to $71.83 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.08% or 0.06 to hit $76.55 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.44% or 8.75 to trade at $1,962.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.16% to 141.97, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 154.95.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 102.08.
