Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Finance & Investment and Food sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523), which rose 2.40% or 191.00 points to trade at 8,156.00 at the close. SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:9412) added 2.36% or 13.00 points to end at 563.00 and Toyobo Co., Ltd. (TYO:3101) was up 2.21% or 23.00 points to 1,064.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911), which lost 4.94% or 341.00 points to trade at 6,559.00 in late trade. Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO:9983) declined 3.13% or 1,000.00 points to end at 30,970.00 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) shed 2.60% or 122.00 points to 4,565.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2382 to 1210 and 246 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.22% to 15.81.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was up 1.40% or 1.00 to $72.34 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 1.29% or 0.97 to hit $76.27 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 2.95 to trade at $2,027.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 135.09, while EUR/JPY rose 0.48% to 149.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 100.89.
