Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503), which rose 2.47% or 30.0 points to trade at 1243.5 at the close. Sekisui House, Ltd. (T:1928) added 1.77% or 38.5 points to end at 2209.0 and Comsys Holdings Corp. (T:1721) was up 1.65% or 50.0 points to 3075.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dentsu Inc. (T:4324), which lost 3.57% or 135.0 points to trade at 3645.0 in late trade. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 3.42% or 51.0 points to end at 1442.0 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) shed 3.04% or 29.0 points to 925.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1679 to 1678 and 254 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.02.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.15% or 0.08 to $52.55 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.14% or 0.08 to hit $58.16 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.73% or 10.95 to trade at $1514.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.11% to 107.19, while EUR/JPY rose 0.34% to 117.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 98.692.
