Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Automobiles & Parts and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.61%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which rose 4.17% or 51.0 points to trade at 1275.0 at the close. T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795) added 3.83% or 72.5 points to end at 1966.5 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) was up 3.31% or 70.0 points to 2183.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokyu Fudosan (T:3289), which lost 11.31% or 88.0 points to trade at 690.0 in late trade. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) declined 5.33% or 400.0 points to end at 7100.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) shed 4.73% or 416.0 points to 8375.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1801 to 1594 and 209 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.99% to 17.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.25% or 0.19 to $76.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.27% or 0.23 to hit $86.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1202.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.14% to 114.38, while EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 131.36.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 95.64.
