Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Power, Mining and Paper & Pulp sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.60%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211), which rose 2.14% or 10.00 points to trade at 477.00 at the close. Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035) added 1.91% or 670.00 points to end at 35,760.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) was up 1.84% or 140.00 points to 7,740.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602), which lost 3.84% or 195.00 points to trade at 4,885.00 in late trade. TOTO Ltd. (TYO:5332) declined 3.10% or 150.00 points to end at 4,685.00 and Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:6366) shed 3.04% or 11.00 points to 351.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2767 to 776 and 203 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.58% to 26.12.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.26% or 0.23 to $87.50 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.44% or 0.41 to hit $92.86 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 2.35 to trade at $1,675.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 146.79, while EUR/JPY fell 0.21% to 142.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 113.29.
