Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.41%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which rose 6.69% or 126.0 points to trade at 2010.0 at the close. Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 3.39% or 35.0 points to end at 1068.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) was up 2.58% or 38.0 points to 1510.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which lost 9.32% or 209.0 points to trade at 2034.0 in late trade. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) declined 3.99% or 74.0 points to end at 1782.0 and Keio Corp. (T:9008) shed 3.31% or 220.0 points to 6420.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2245 to 1217 and 237 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.10.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.11% or 0.06 to $55.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $59.23 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.45 to trade at $1529.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 106.27, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 116.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 98.833.
