Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Fishery and Gas & Water sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.37%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009), which rose 3.72% or 140.00 points to trade at 3,900.00 at the close. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) added 2.99% or 32.00 points to end at 1,102.00 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211) was up 2.95% or 16.00 points to 559.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Inpex Corp. (TYO:1605), which lost 3.55% or 59.00 points to trade at 1,604.00 in late trade. Eneos Holdings Inc (TYO:5020) declined 3.09% or 16.70 points to end at 523.60 and Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) shed 2.99% or 8.00 points to 260.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2130 to 1367 and 280 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.26% to 20.08.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.22% or 0.20 to $91.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.24% or 0.23 to hit $98.07 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.80 to trade at $1,733.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 138.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.22% to 138.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 108.78.
