Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Steel, Rubber and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 12.71% or 15.0 points to trade at 133.0 at the close. Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) added 9.48% or 490.0 points to end at 5660.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) was up 7.84% or 592.0 points to 8140.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which lost 7.92% or 67.0 points to trade at 779.0 in late trade. DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714) declined 6.55% or 230.0 points to end at 3280.0 and Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269) shed 6.04% or 446.0 points to 6944.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1933 to 1438 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.60 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.04% or 0.03 to $66.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $72.31 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 1.90 to trade at $1219.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 111.09, while EUR/JPY fell 0.16% to 128.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 95.14.
