Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Glass, Automobiles & Parts and Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.16% to hit a new 6-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (T:4063), which rose 8.01% or 677.0 points to trade at 9130.0 at the close. The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) added 6.40% or 107.5 points to end at 1788.0 and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9502) was up 4.99% or 80.5 points to 1692.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752), which lost 10.61% or 127.0 points to trade at 1070.0 in late trade. Meidensha Corp. (T:6508) declined 6.45% or 104.0 points to end at 1508.0 and Fujitsu Ltd. (T:6702) shed 5.44% or 381.0 points to 6622.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2593 to 936 and 144 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.63% to 28.11.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.55% or 0.37 to $67.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.61% or 0.47 to hit $77.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.28% or 3.50 to trade at $1232.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 111.91, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 127.46.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 96.27.
