Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Gas & Water and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sojitz Corp. (TYO:2768), which rose 8.46% or 263.00 points to trade at 3,370.00 at the close. Yokohama Rubber Co Ltd (TYO:5101) added 4.07% or 132.00 points to end at 3,375.00 and Keio Corp. (TYO:9008) was up 3.49% or 145.00 points to 4,298.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Denso Corp. (TYO:6902), which lost 4.85% or 116.00 points to trade at 2,277.00 in late trade. Hino Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7205) declined 2.55% or 12.60 points to end at 481.60 and Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:7261) shed 2.32% or 38.50 points to 1,621.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1884 to 1721 and 264 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.90% to 17.36.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.19% or 0.14 to $75.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.24% or 0.19 to hit $80.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.15% or 3.00 to trade at $2,015.40 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.31% to 148.21, while EUR/JPY fell 0.39% to 162.24.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.01% at 103.09.
