Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Retail, Pharmaceutical Industry and Gas & Water sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5202), which rose 5.15% or 36.00 points to trade at 735.00 at the close. Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) added 2.70% or 470.00 points to end at 17,900.00 and Panasonic Corp (TYO:6752) was up 2.33% or 27.50 points to 1,205.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6504), which lost 3.18% or 170.00 points to trade at 5,180.00 in late trade. NTT Data Corp. (TYO:9613) declined 2.88% or 54.00 points to end at 1,818.00 and Chiba Bank Ltd (TYO:8331) shed 2.51% or 25.00 points to 970.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1864 to 1693 and 270 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.78% to 15.78.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.36% or 0.28 to $77.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.34% or 0.29 to hit $84.02 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.43% or 7.90 to trade at $1,837.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.50% to 136.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.20% to 145.54.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 104.72.
