Investing.com – Japan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Finance & Investment and Manufacturing sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which rose 2.71% or 90.0 points to trade at 3410.0 at the close. Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) added 2.60% or 50.0 points to end at 1970.0 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) was up 2.44% or 240.0 points to 10060.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706), which lost 3.69% or 122.5 points to trade at 3195.0 in late trade. Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) declined 3.55% or 25.0 points to end at 680.0 and Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) shed 3.50% or 65.0 points to 1791.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 2008 to 1356 and 244 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.38% to 14.97.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.38% or 0.27 to $69.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.53% or 0.41 to hit $77.61 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.65% or 7.80 to trade at $1212.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.22% to 110.75, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 129.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.56.
