Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Mining, Shipbuilding and Rubber sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 2.67% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324), which rose 6.15% or 260.00 points to trade at 4,490.00 at the close. Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) added 5.11% or 905.00 points to end at 18,610.00 and Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479) was up 4.91% or 114.00 points to 2,436.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included IHI Corp. (TYO:7013), which lost 1.23% or 45.00 points to trade at 3,625.00 in late trade. Hitachi Zosen Corp. (TYO:7004) declined 0.60% or 5.00 points to end at 824.00 and Haseko Corp (TYO:1808) shed 0.31% or 5.00 points to 1,605.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2946 to 641 and 216 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.42% to 21.76.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 1.87% or 1.88 to $98.86 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 1.56% or 1.68 to hit $105.67 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 5.35 to trade at $1,705.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.08% to 138.07, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 141.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.19% at 106.35.
