Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Power and Electrical/Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 2.50%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Amada Co., Ltd. (TYO:6113), which rose 6.72% or 71.00 points to trade at 1,127.00 at the close. Terumo Corp. (TYO:4543) added 6.35% or 224.00 points to end at 3,754.00 and Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) was up 6.11% or 350.00 points to 6,080.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc (TYO:8750), which lost 1.67% or 50.00 points to trade at 2,953.00 in late trade. T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8795) declined 1.64% or 33.00 points to end at 1,976.00 and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (TYO:8306) shed 0.79% or 7.50 points to 943.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2871 to 713 and 225 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.14% to 19.15.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.92% or 0.74 to $81.19 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.71% or 0.61 to hit $86.53 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1,909.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 1.75% to 130.38, while EUR/JPY rose 1.96% to 140.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 102.17.
