Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Electrical/Machinery, Construction and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 2.06%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which rose 12.91% or 238.0 points to trade at 2081.0 at the close. Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) added 10.25% or 204.0 points to end at 2195.0 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) was up 8.27% or 174.0 points to 2279.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which lost 21.07% or 150.0 points to trade at 562.0 in late trade. JFE Holdings, Inc. (T:5411) declined 8.85% or 207.0 points to end at 2131.0 and Kobe Steel, Ltd. (T:5406) shed 6.87% or 67.0 points to 908.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2890 to 678 and 126 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 5.33% to 26.65.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.01% or 0.67 to $66.85 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.33% or 1.01 to hit $76.96 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.58% or 7.10 to trade at $1218.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 113.07, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 128.39.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 96.69.
