Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Trading and Fishery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.97%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which rose 7.04% or 400.0 points to trade at 6080.0 at the close. Yamaha Corp. (T:7951) added 4.80% or 215.0 points to end at 4695.0 and Meidensha Corp. (T:6508) was up 4.80% or 19.0 points to 415.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bridgestone Corp. (T:5108), which lost 2.29% or 114.0 points to trade at 4860.0 in late trade. Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) declined 0.70% or 35.0 points to end at 4960.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) shed 0.49% or 31.0 points to 6357.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 3289 to 217 and 57 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 7.45% to 23.48.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.81% or 0.50 to $62.05 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.54% or 0.35 to hit $65.19 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.42% or 5.70 to trade at $1350.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.31% to 106.53, while EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 132.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 89.04.
