Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Automobiles & Parts and Chemical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107), which rose 5.27% or 289.00 points to trade at 5,769.00 at the close. Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) added 5.13% or 363.00 points to end at 7,445.00 and Ebara Corp. (TYO:6361) was up 4.75% or 378.00 points to 8,340.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Central Japan Railway Co. (TYO:9022), which lost 2.62% or 95.00 points to trade at 3,535.00 in late trade. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (TYO:4568) declined 2.40% or 96.00 points to end at 3,909.00 and Konica Minolta, Inc. (TYO:4902) shed 2.21% or 9.40 points to 416.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2365 to 1273 and 246 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.75% to 18.51.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.05% or 0.04 to $72.78 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.15% or 0.12 to hit $78.07 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 2.90 to trade at $2,037.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.66% to 143.68, while EUR/JPY rose 0.66% to 157.01.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 102.18.
