Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Electrical/Machinery and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.02%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:9984), which rose 3.77% or 216.00 points to trade at 5,949.00 at the close. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) added 3.58% or 85.00 points to end at 2,458.00 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523) was up 3.57% or 291.00 points to 8,433.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519), which lost 3.50% or 123.00 points to trade at 3,396.00 in late trade. Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) declined 1.58% or 120.00 points to end at 7,490.00 and Marui Group Co., Ltd. (TYO:8252) shed 1.36% or 33.00 points to 2,400.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2499 to 984 and 329 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.03% to 25.03.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.53% or 0.45 to $84.13 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.44% or 0.40 to hit $90.81 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.85 to trade at $1,651.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 148.88, while EUR/JPY fell 0.15% to 146.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 111.94.
