Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Mining, Transport and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were TOTO Ltd. (TYO:5332), which rose 8.64% or 395.00 points to trade at 4,965.00 at the close. Daikin Industries, Ltd. (TYO:6367) added 5.33% or 1,080.00 points to end at 21,330.00 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523) was up 4.84% or 394.00 points to 8,541.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501), which lost 4.18% or 19.00 points to trade at 436.00 in late trade. Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc (TYO:8750) declined 3.04% or 90.00 points to end at 2,873.50 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098) shed 3.02% or 131.00 points to 4,208.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2146 to 1403 and 278 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.80% to 18.21.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.47% or 0.35 to $74.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.50% or 0.40 to hit $79.25 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.10% or 1.80 to trade at $1,876.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.19% to 132.13, while EUR/JPY rose 0.19% to 141.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.28% at 103.03.
