Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Transportation Equipment and Electrical/Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Rakuten Inc (TYO:4755), which rose 4.58% or 30.00 points to trade at 685.00 at the close. Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253) added 3.34% or 58.00 points to end at 1,796.00 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523) was up 2.92% or 221.00 points to 7,790.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aeon Co., Ltd. (TYO:8267), which lost 2.60% or 71.50 points to trade at 2,681.50 in late trade. Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) declined 2.10% or 6.00 points to end at 280.00 and Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211) shed 1.69% or 9.00 points to 522.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2398 to 1053 and 303 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.32% to 23.46.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.06% or 0.05 to $87.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.13% or 0.12 to hit $93.49 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.65% or 11.25 to trade at $1,732.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 144.60, while EUR/JPY rose 0.31% to 143.37.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 110.88.
