Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Warehousing and Rubber sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.69%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Amada Co., Ltd. (T:6113), which rose 6.73% or 75.0 points to trade at 1190.0 at the close. Familymart Ltd (T:8028) added 6.66% or 1110.0 points to end at 17780.0 and Alps Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6770) was up 4.58% or 112.0 points to 2559.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (T:1925), which lost 2.95% or 103.0 points to trade at 3386.0 in late trade. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) declined 2.74% or 100.0 points to end at 3555.0 and Inpex Corp. (T:1605) shed 2.44% or 29.0 points to 1158.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2032 to 1471 and 203 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.34% to 20.29.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.33% or 0.67 to $51.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.68% or 0.99 to hit $60.03 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 3.40 to trade at $1232.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.28% to 113.29, while EUR/JPY rose 0.60% to 128.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.627.
