Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Precision Instruments, Textile and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nikon Corp. (TYO:7731), which rose 7.25% or 108.00 points to trade at 1,598.00 at the close. Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) added 6.40% or 680.00 points to end at 11,310.00 and Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TYO:8015) was up 5.31% or 245.00 points to 4,855.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Osaka Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9532), which lost 3.02% or 76.00 points to trade at 2,441.00 in late trade. Marubeni Corp. (TYO:8002) declined 2.56% or 35.00 points to end at 1,334.50 and Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) shed 2.20% or 58.00 points to 2,573.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2180 to 1327 and 245 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.29% to 23.50.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.19% or 0.22 to $113.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.12% or 0.14 to hit $114.03 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 8.21 to trade at $1,855.81 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.00% to 127.14, while EUR/JPY rose 0.22% to 136.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 101.61.
