Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Communication and Precision Instruments sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Seiko Epson Cor (TYO:6724), which rose 10.42% or 225.00 points to trade at 2,384.00 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (TYO:6366) added 8.01% or 27.00 points to end at 364.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) was up 7.19% or 102.00 points to 1,520.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sumitomo Chemical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4005), which lost 7.03% or 23.40 points to trade at 309.30 in late trade. Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479) declined 5.80% or 180.00 points to end at 2,921.00 and Toyota Tsusho Corp. (TYO:8015) shed 4.18% or 407.00 points to 9,321.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2422 to 1206 and 261 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.30% to 19.39.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.35% or 0.25 to $72.53 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.48% or 0.37 to hit $77.70 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.34% or 7.05 to trade at $2,046.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 148.29, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 159.91.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 103.87.
