Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Precision Instruments and Retail sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751), which rose 4.36% or 47.50 points to trade at 1,136.00 at the close. Kobe Steel, Ltd. (TYO:5406) added 4.22% or 54.00 points to end at 1,332.50 and T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8795) was up 3.83% or 78.00 points to 2,116.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ricoh Co., Ltd. (TYO:7752), which lost 2.23% or 27.50 points to trade at 1,208.00 in late trade. Sony Corp (TYO:6758) declined 1.93% or 265.00 points to end at 13,470.00 and Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098) shed 1.66% or 79.00 points to 4,676.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2134 to 1451 and 258 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.14% to 20.09.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.52% or 0.37 to $71.56 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.42% or 0.32 to hit $76.22 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.15 to trade at $1,947.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.42% to 142.05, while EUR/JPY rose 0.42% to 155.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 102.18.
