Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Transport, Retail and Fishery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.56%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taisei Corp. (TYO:1801), which rose 4.63% or 190.00 points to trade at 4,290.00 at the close. Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (TYO:3099) added 4.15% or 56.00 points to end at 1,405.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) was up 4.13% or 79.00 points to 1,993.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:2801), which lost 1.33% or 90.00 points to trade at 6,690.00 in late trade. Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (TYO:6952) declined 1.20% or 16.00 points to end at 1,319.00 and Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) shed 0.87% or 160.00 points to 18,310.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2501 to 1019 and 296 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.41% to 17.54 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.52% or 0.42 to $81.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.49% or 0.42 to hit $86.58 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.37% or 7.20 to trade at $1,931.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.33% to 128.85, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 139.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.87.
