Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Communication, Transport and Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which rose 8.45% or 25.0 points to trade at 321.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 5.08% or 133.0 points to end at 2752.0 and Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (T:8253) was up 4.61% or 54.0 points to 1226.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9502), which lost 1.93% or 30.0 points to trade at 1527.5 in late trade. Concordia Financial Group Ltd (T:7186) declined 1.93% or 8.0 points to end at 407.0 and Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (T:3863) shed 1.90% or 36.0 points to 1860.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2404 to 1078 and 229 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.97% to 18.70.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was up 1.67% or 0.88 to $53.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 1.67% or 1.03 to hit $62.70 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.31% or 4.15 to trade at $1338.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 108.47, while EUR/JPY rose 0.00% to 122.22.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.015.
